Fashion Photography and Inclusive Narratives
“My aim is to amplify the voices of those who wish to bellow”
As photographers, we have a unique power—and responsibility—to create images that celebrate and embrace the full spectrum of human diversity. Creative photography isn’t just about finding the right light or composition; it’s about capturing authentic stories and representing people in ways that respect and reflect their true identities. My fuel and passion is ignited by exploring the fragility of the human condition and the sensitivities around the ‘lived experience’. To foster inclusivity, we need to go beyond surface-level diversity and create an environment where everyone feels seen, respected, and valued in front of the camera.
Using diverse, intentional styling, props, and settings also plays a role. When designing shoots with inclusivity in mind, small decisions—such as accessible locations, culturally relevant props, or thoughtful wardrobe choices—can make a big difference in making someone feel at ease and empowered. It's also crucial to use body-positive angles, lighting that complements all skin tones, and approaches that avoid stereotyping. This might mean learning new techniques or taking the time to understand different cultural aesthetics, but it’s worth it to create work that resonates widely and deeply.
